Bluegrass at the Bar

Well we had our first Slow Bluegrass Jam last night from 6-8pm. There were four of us. Two guitars, a banjo and a mondolin. I'm going to spread the word and try to get a regular bass player and some singers. Customers didn't mind the music for two hours (perhaps they were being polite). But I am going to try and keep it going for a while and see how it goes. The next one will be in two weeks time, Tuesday, November 10th at 8pm. The Yankees are starting their series against Philly tonight - It's been raining so we'll see if we get the game in. Enticing customers out with free hot dogs does not seem to be working. Not even 2 for 1 beers! Next on the agenda is to get a new contract for the dishwasher. We've been paying a lease price for 10 years. I could have owned 3 or 4 already. We've got our Halloween Party this weekend as well. Hope the weather holds out.

What a long day

Our first brunch of the season was a success. There was plenty of food and the Eggs Frittata with Potatoes was definitely the way to go. Hand rolled bagels, lox, bacon, french toast and fresh fruit rounded out the meal. Everyone loved the Bloody Mary's (Celery Salt, horseradish, tabasco, black pepper). It's Columbus Day tomorrow so we've been busy all night. It's now almost 2am and we still have a nice crowd. Friends came by throughout the night some new and some old, sharing stories and talking about pizza. Yankees are going to be playing the Angels and I hope we get to see a Yankees/ Dodgers World Series. I'll be cooking tomorrow night - always looking to try something new.

So it's been a really good night

Just closed for the night -  we had some great groups in tonight who looked like they had fun. One group was celebrating a birthday and another came from a reunion from the Class of 1978 at a local catholic school that is no longer open. Lots of couples on dates and groups of single men and single women chatting each other up throughout the night. Food was flying out the door tonight as were the martinis. The staff worked well together and that makes for a complete evening. When diverse groups all come together in one place, the common denominator seems to be couchy catered comfort. Service with a smile and keep it coming. We're kicking off a brunch thing tomorrow at noon - we'll see how that goes - all part of the master plan...

Let's review what customers and critics have said in the past.

My goal is to modify what they say about us in the future. Although the consensus is quite positive I would like people to say they would recommend Delia's to friends for parties and hanging out during the week especially after work. I would like to build traffic from 6-9pm and using this blog I hope to get ideas from customers to offer things that would make them think of us on the way home.
